For Love I Go South The sun is out in Charleston That’s where my baby went, But here in Boston The Skies are cold and dim, I drive north every morning to my job Two blocks west is my favorite bar And the best hotdog in the world is just east of town, But for love I go south The days are getting longer At least to me, But I’m missing you stronger Everyday of the week, Oh now I go north when I want to ski If I want the ocean I just go east If I want free advice my mother is always west bound, Oh but for love I go south Oh for love I go south Down I-95, the road to heaven is a hell-of-a drive Sixteen hours and a thousand miles, Two years and a PhD, before my baby comes home to me But in less than an hour I found That for love I go south Oh for love I go south The weather man is betting On a winter storm, And so I’ll be heading Where my heart is warm, There’s an old girlfriend lives north of me The west side of town you know love is free And the best hotdog in the world is still east of town, Oh but for love I go south Yeah for love I go south…. Oh but for love I go south Alan Brown, copyright 2018

Since You Been Gone Well the sun don’t shine and the moon don’t glow Rain is dry and the wind won’t blow, Leaves won’t turn, but my heart has turned to stone You see it’s been that way ‘round here – since you been gone Well the fish all drown and the birds won’t fly There’s a fog on the ground cause the clouds fell from the sky, World stop turnin’, but my heart has turned to stone You see it’s been that way ‘round here – since you been gone Since you been gone – there’s been some changes Since you been gone – you won’t recognize the place Since you been gone – there’s been some rearranging Since you been gone – there’s no smile on my face Hills don’t roll, seas don’t wave Hell turned cold now the snow won’t melt away, Oh yeah by the way did I mention my heart had turned to stone You see it’s been that way ‘round here – since you been gone Since you been gone – there’s been some changes Since you been gone – you won’t recognize the place Since you been gone – there’s been some rearranging Since you been gone – there’s no smile on my face Birds don’t sing, seasons won’t change My phone don’t ring but I answer it anyway, Oh yeah my heart is heavy, lord it sinks just like a stone You see it’s been that way ‘round here Been that way ‘round here Don't you know that it's been that way ‘round here - since you been gone Oh since you been gone Oh Since you been gone Alan Brown, copyright 2018

Gamblin' Man 04:11
Gamblin’ Man Mama didn’t raise me in a pool hall So I don’t roll the dice, I have never been behind a cue ball But I got one vice, See I'm a fool for your Love I risk everything I have Baby I’m a fool for your Love Guess that makes me a Gamblin’ Man Cards are for sharks and losers So two hands are all I need, Baby don’t worry cause I’m no boozer But I'm as guilty as can be… See I’m a fool for your Love I risk everything I have Baby I’m a fool for your Love Guess that makes me a Gamblin’ Man Spent my whole life going in circles But I don’t go to the track, Baby you can bet, I don’t bet on cars or horses Oh but here’s a fact See I’m a fool now for your Love I risk everything I have Baby I’m a fool for your Love Guess that makes me a Gamblin' … ..Baby I’m a fool now for your Love I risk everything I have Baby I’m a fool for your sweet Love Guess that makes me a Gamblin' Man Oh I’m your Gamblin' Man Alan Brown, copyright 2018

It Ain't Me 02:41
It Ain’t Me Give me a reason - why I should stay And I’ll turn back around, Any old reason, not to walk away And baby I am yours right now And it ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me walkin’ out your door, It ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me but sometimes I wish it was Happy endings – don’t always come On the very first try, So stop pretending – you’re having fun And baby now just give me a reason why That it ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me walkin’ out your door, It ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me but sometimes I wish it was Can’t stop lovin’ you – I think about you every day Can’t stop lovin' you but baby, I’m just tired of livin’ this way I’m growin’ older – by the day So by night I’m gonna live, I know I told you – they’ll come a day When baby now you’ll no longer hear It ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me walkin’ out your door, It ain’t me, it ain’t me It ain’t me but sometimes I wish it was Alan Brown, copyright 2018

Home is an Eight Letter Word The smell of grass always takes me back to my younger days Life was good back in my neighborhood here in the middle of the state, If home is where your heart should be Mine never fell very far from the tree….. From the mountains to the coast Don’t know where I love the most So don’t put me on a leash, And as far as I can tell Most people they can’t spell, don’t you see Home is an eight letter word to me I can’t let go of that sand between my toes from my last walk on the beach The salty air is still blowin’ in my hair and through my memories, Where two brothers decided to fly Home for tourist since 1585…. From the mountains to the coast Don’t know where I love the most So don’t put me on a leash, And as far as I can tell Most people they can’t spell, don’t you see Home is an eight letter word to me Home is an eight letter word to me ….We got mountains bluer than a summer sky The autumn leaves paint a perfect scene every time… From the mountains to the coast Don’t know where I love the most So don’t put me on a leash, And as far as I can tell Most people they can’t spell, don’t you see Home is an eight letter word to me Home is an eight word to me Home is an eight word to me “Cause in my mind I’m gone to CAROLINA Can’t you see the sunshine, can’t you just feel the moonshine Ain’t it just like a friend of mine to hit you from behind,” Home is an eight letter word to me Alan Brown, copyright 2018 (“Carolina in my Mind,” by James Taylor)

Mr. Blue 03:05
Mr. Blue There’s a man standing at my door I recognize his knock; you know I heard it before, He must have heard you walked out on me And now he figures that I need the company Mr. Blue – is knockin’ on my door Mr. Blue – I've heard him before Mr. Blue – he won’t go away Whenever you leave, Mr. Blue - he comes to stay Now he’s a little ole man about five-foot-three He wears little pin-stripes, has a little goatee, A broad brimmed hat and a shine on his shoes, he’s – Mister Rogers with an attitude He's Mr. Blue – and he's knockin’ on my door Mr. Blue – I've heard him before Mr. Blue – he won’t go away Whenever you leave, Mr. Blue comes to stay Now he’s the king of darkness, the prince of gloom He draws the shades in every room, He's like a fog that just won’t lift Even my dreams have a blueish tint Mr. Blue – is knockin’ on my door Mr. Blue – I've heard him before Mr. Blue – he won’t go away Whenever you leave Mr. Blue …. oh whenever you leave Mr. blue – He comes to stay Alan Brown, copyright 2018

Saving Time 02:35
Saving Time What good is saving time in a bottle? If you can’t drink it up, Cause I’d like to pour a glass that’ll take me back When we were in love Time flies when you’re having fun So I – guess we broke the speed of sound, But other days it drags on and on Like the day when you moved out, So what good is saving time in a bottle? If you can’t drink it up, Cause I’d like to pour a glass that’ll take me back When we were in love When you’re living for the moment You’re always bound to make mistakes, And about the time you know it It’s always a little bit too late So what good is saving time in a bottle? If you can’t drink it up, Cause I’d like to pour a glass that’ll take me back When we were in love Oh yes I’d like to pour a glass that’ll take me back When we were in love Alan Brown, copyright 2018

Squeeze me like a Lemon After fifty years of marriage the same ole’ thing Ethel decided she was ready for a change She bought a book called - Love after Sixty-Five, When Fred came home later that night He didn’t know what hit him, she took him by surprise She sat him down and looked him in the eyes, she said Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit Wear me out like your favorite pair of boots Rub me like a lamp with a hot genie inside, Tease me like the hair on a homecoming queen Take me like a thief then hold me like a dream Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit tonight Ethel woke up with a smile on her face Her hair was a mess and so was the place She looked at Fred and he just gave her a wink, He turned on the light then he sat up Read a few pages out of Ethel’s book And said “go back to bed my love you’re gonna need your sleep…” Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit Wear me out like your favorite pair of boots Rub me like a lamp with a hot genie inside, Tease me like the hair on a homecoming queen Take me like a thief then hold me like a dream Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit tonight A few years later they both pass on The kids decided they would sell the home And started going through it one room at a time, Imagine the look on the their faces When they found a book with dog-eared pages And one section heavily underlined…. Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit Wear me out like your favorite pair of boots Rub me like a lamp with a hot genie inside, Tease me like the hair on a homecoming queen Take me like a thief then hold me like a dream Squeeze me like a lemon, peel me like a fruit tonight (Repeat) Words by Alan Brown, copyright 2018 (Tune of “Wagon Wheel,” Old Crow Medicine Show)

Tell You Goodbye I can tell you what I’m thinking, tell you what I’m not And tell you when I think I think too much, Tell you when I’m wishing for something I ain’t got And tell you how I miss your touch I can tell you good morning, and tell you goodnight But I just can’t find the words to Tell You Goodbye I can tell you ‘bout the bones buried in my closet I can tell you secrets that I swore to keep, I can tell you ‘bout my first love and how I lost it I can tell you anything, I can tell you how I’m lost as a tourist, when I look into your eyes But I just can’t find the words to Tell You Goodbye I can be many things but not courageous Cause I’ve got a fear it seems of learning a foreign language, Cause baby I just don’t know how to Tell you Goodbye I can tell you ‘bout my plans for the future, and tell you how they include you Tell you that my past is getting’ awful jealous now, its hoping for some déjà vu I can tell you how my knees still get a little weak, when you walk by But I just can’t find the words to Tell You Goodbye I can be many things but not courageous Cause I’ve got a fear it seems of learning a foreign language, Cause baby I just don’t know how to Tell You Goodbye I will never, never, never know – how to Tell You ... How to tell you Goodbye No, no no, don’t know how to Tell You Goodbye Alan Brown, copyright 2018
